Expected Results
- Designation of SCI “Spawning area of Acipenser naccarii” for a surface of about 180 ha, that includes the lower course of Ticino river, and activation of the process for the designation of an SAC;
- Creation and formation of a task force focused on the protection of the spawning area of Acipenser naccarii, that will be active even after the end of the LIFE project;
- Reduction of at least 50% of the the number of wels cat fishes (Silurus glanis), during summer, in the spawning area of Acipenser naccarii;
- 7 hectares of natural aquatic habitats suitable for target fish species, with an increase of at least 20% after the interventions;
- 9,000 square metres of new wetlands (habitat 3150) and 7.000 square metres of new reedbeds in favour of bird target species;
- Creation of a naturalistic trail at Motta Visconti;
- Creation of 2 hectares of dry grasslands at Motta Visconti;
- Creation of 3 hectares of new wet woodlands (habitat 91E0*) and restoration of 11 hectares of mixed riparian woodlands (habitat 91F0) at Motta Visconti;
- Creation and restoration of 4 hectares of wet woodlands (habitat 91E0*), creation and restoration of 12 hectares of mixed riparian woodlands (habitat 91F0) at Bernate Ticino;
- Restoration of 6.500 square metres of wetlands (habitat 3150) a Bernate Ticino;
- 000 square metres of floating islands covered by marsh vegetation, in favour of bird target species, at Arno stream basins;
- 60 hectares of lowland meadows (habitat 6150) that will be flooded in winter (in Italian “marcite”) in favour of wintering birds, in various sites of the provinces of Milano and Pavia;
- 15 hectares of lowland meadows (habitat 6150) that will be flooded in autumn, in favour of wintering birds, in various sites of the provinces of Milano and Pavia;
- Reintroduction in Italy of Huso huso, raising at least 4,000 young sturgeons in the infrastructures of the Park, that will be than released into the wild.
