Path: Lanca di Bernate
Itinerary description
The path starts from the Canonica di Bernate, crosses agricultural areas and skirts a motorway, which a little further on makes you appreciate the silence of the woods. The Ticino appears to the visitor almost suddenly, very wide. Continuing along the towpath, you reach a Celtic calendar and then the most delicate and protected area, where the river, in continuous slow change, has created an oxbow, which can only be accessed on foot. This area has been acquired by the Ticino Park, which, thanks to the LIFE Ticino Biosource project, has carried out numerous environmental restoration works, including the installation of observation points for aquatic avifauna. The trail continues along the river until it reaches a restaurant and then continues on the SP Sesto-Pavia trail.
Path: The Geraci
Description of the itinerary
The nature trails that wind through the Geraci area, generically called Anelli dei Geraci (AG), allow you to discover silent oxbows and woods typical of the wetlands on the banks of the Ticino.
As you walk along the paths, you can listen to the sounds of the woods and the songs of the many birds present. The Park Centre is located in a strategic area of the “Geraci” estate, because it is a few minutes’ walk from the river, adjacent to a beautiful fountain and the Display Garden and is barycentric with respect to the itineraries that allow you to discover the most interesting environments of the area.
Two buildings make up the Visitor Centre, the main building is used for reception and is equipped with an information office, a meeting room and a multi-purpose room used for conferences and educational activities. Inside this structure there are two changing rooms with showers and services for the disabled. Near the main building there is a second structure used as a guesthouse, where it is possible to stay. The Park Centre also has a small picnic area equipped with tables and benches for schoolchildren and visitors.
The “Geraci” Park Centre offers various sports and environmental education activities for children, young people and adults. There are packages for schools, oratories and specific activities for companies (team building) and organised groups. We also organise summer camps for children and young people, both residential and daytime. All the proposals aim to make visitors know and appreciate the beauty of the Ticino Park, also through sporting activities: rafting, canoeing, trekking.
