The project website is online www.lifeticinobiosource.it. from the end of June 2017. Since January 2018 the site has been updated directly by the Project Manager, who has implemented the communication with the opening on social networks (FACEBOOK) of a well-attended project page, in which the states are reported of progress of the same.

Filming for the making of the documentary is underway, field operations have already started since spring 2018. The project and the screenplay of the movie proposal presented by the winner of the call, aims, in particular, to make a documentary that is not extremely technical, but focused on an extremely simple storytelling that winds through various stories attributable to various characters, all held together by a single design link.

Newsletter: Not foreseen by the Project, the Steering Committee has decided to produce, on a quarterly basis, a newsletter which reports on the progress of the Project. To date, no. 5 newsletters.

Course on butterflies

During the workshop held on 10 March 2018, 15 new volunteers were “activated”, many following the training received from the 2017 recognition course, who voluntarily offered their willingness to take charge of conducting the censuses in at least 1 unit of survey (ur) for a total of 20 ur assigned (out of 33 overall in the project area).

The training course on the observation and recognition of butterflies achieved excellent participation (52 registrations) and an average number of presences more than satisfactory. The structure of the course, including the number of lessons (12) and field meetings / workshops (2), remained unchanged compared to 2017. Classroom location was the “ex Austro-Hungarian Customs” Park Center in Tornavento “in province of Varese. The interest, participation and in some cases even the basic preparation of the students are a good omen in view of the 2019 field season.

The number of students enrolled in the course recorded an increase of 7% compared to the previous year, having risen from 45 to 52. The number of volunteers active on the field was significant, with an increase of 50% (from 5 to 15). The activation of voluntary detectors (moreover in a more than discrete number) suitably prepared is to be considered an important goal achieved.

The adhesions to the environmental education project were higher than expected and compared to the 40 expected classes, there were 232 classes and 25 schools and more than 5400 children participating.

The project brochure, intended as a tool and didactic support, has already been conceived and created and distributed to about 2/3 of the schools. The high number of schools and young people led to the exhaustion of the booklet which must therefore be reprinted for the remainder.

The action was launched in November 2016 and all the actions envisaged by the project have found their realization or their start. In June 2017 a new website dedicated to the project was studied and created.

The site has been online since July 2017 and over the months it has been completed and implemented with other actions aimed at social networks (creation of a newsletter and a Facebook profile).

As for the activity with primary schools, we proceeded within the set times and in December 2017 a brochure was created which will serve as a useful compendium for all the educational activities planned for the school years 2018/2019 and 2019/2020.                                                                                                                   The booklet has already been sent to all the mayors and to many school leaders and the same (in PDF format) can also be downloaded from the website in the “Schools” section.       Many memberships that have already been gathered and which aim to involve the whole territory of the Park, from Sesto Calende to Pavia. In March 2018, we also proceeded to lay the foundations that aim to create a documentary capable of illustrating the project actions, this, by hiring, after specific procedures, an expert filmmaker from the Park and LIFE Projects.
