The amphibian monitoring will also be repeated during 2021 in order to have a precise picture of the situation from February to May, the reproductive period for this group. Activities under the responsibility of the Ticino Park are underway. The monitoring of the Lepidoptera community, despite Covid-19 limitations, was carried out and concluded at the end of October. All reports are in progress.
Monitoring concerns the fauna species (avifauna and Lycaena dispar) present in the areas of intervention relating to Actions C1 and C6. The activity began on January 1, 2017 and is regularly underway at both intervention sites.

Monitoring of Lycaena dispar
Location “I Geraci” – Motta Visconti (Action C1)
Lycaena dispar was monitored in n. 5 areas within the Geraci site, through the execution of transects (buffer 2.5 m right and left + 5 mh), repeated every 15 days, from May to October in 2017 and from March to October in 2018 for a total of 30 field trips.
L. dispar was observed both in 2017 and 2018. The presence of the host plants for L. dispar (romics of different species) in all the areas investigated with the exception of a station is confirmed. To date, according to the results, the presence of the host plant would not seem to ensure the presence of the butterfly.
Monitoring of Lycaena dispar in Bernate Ticino in the “La Piarda” area (Action C.6)
The monitoring of Lycaena dispar was carried out in three stations, by carrying out transects (buffer 2.5 m right and sn + 5 mh), repeated every 15 days, from May to October in 2017 and from March to October in 2018 for a total of 22 field trips.
As regards the target species, no reports were collected in 2017, while in 2018 the species was reported along the La Piarda “MOTORWAY” transept.

Monitoring is in progress
