The redevelopment and creation of forest habitats of conservation interest in Bernate Ticino were assigned in November 2018 to a company selected through a public tender.

Action C5, of which the tender is being launched, provides for the redevelopment of forest habitats in the locality of La Piarda, Bernate Ticino (MI).
After the construction works for high-speed rail transport, the park requested and obtained the acquisition of most of these areas, as compensation for environmental impacts, demolishing houses and fences and returning the riparian areas to the free flow of the river.
Now there are the ideal conditions to carry out an important redevelopment project of the area as a whole and to connect it to the surrounding area, through the restoration of artificial ponds, ponds and wetlands (see action C6) and to improve and create the habitat 91F0 “Mixed riparian forests of large rivers at Quercus robur, Ulmus laevis and Ulmus minor, Fraxinus excelsior or Fraxinus angustifolia (Ulmenion Minoris)” and, for some more hygrophilous woodlands, the priority habitat * 91E0 “Alluvial forests of Alnus glutinosa and Fraxinus excelsior ”, in order to defragment one of the largest degraded sites within the Park, which is located near the river, in a strategic position especially for migratory birds.
